QUINTE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION

The Quinte Economic Development Commission (QEDC), an incorporated, not-for-profit corporation, is dedicated to the promotion of economic growth in its member municipalities, specifically the City of Quinte West, the City of Belleville, and the Municipality of Brighton. QEDC has been given the mandate to focus on the manufacturing and technology sectors due to the strong value-added and wealth creating benefits that these sectors leverage for the entire the economy. The expansion and new investment in manufacturing and technology sectors creates a positive impact and spin-off across other sectors of the economy including, retail, service sector, construction, transportation etc.  QEDC delivers high-impact regional economic development initiatives based on the strategic consensus and common interests of its member municipalities in business retention, expansion and attraction.

Over the past few years, the Quinte Economic Development Commission (QEDC) has been frequently recognized as a top performing economic development group in Canada based on the strategies implemented to encourage growth, diversification and investment. The success of Brighton, Quinte West and Belleville’s collaborative approach with QEDC can be seen in the region’s high number of new investments, expansions and jobs. Initiatives like the establishment of the Manufacturing Resource Centre, the success in investment attraction and job creation in target sectors, and accessing millions of dollars for training and grant funding on behalf of Bay of Quinte Region manufacturers and businesses are examples of the difference the QEDC makes in the community
