Syrian Refugees Find Work on Farms

After looking at the profiles of the incoming refugees from Syria, Quinte Immigration Services director Orlando Ferro noticed that nearly 25 per cent had an agricultural background. Due to a high vacancy rate in the farming sector and a growing gap between supply and demand, Ferro came up with an idea to help fill those gaps in the local economy. He successfully created a program that was focused on helping the refugees find employment in agriculture and food processing.
