The Bay of Quinte region is home to more than 25,000 people that have moved to the region from another country. There are several ethnic and cultural groups, events and associations that help bring all cultures together.
The United Nations Association in Canada Quinte Branch (UNAC-Quinte)
The Quinte Branch of the United Nations Association in Canada is a leader in extending the scope of Model UN conferences to the youth in the Bay of Quinte region.
The skills developed in the Model UN conference include public speaking, writing, researching and negotiating. In addition, learning about the arts of diplomacy, consensus building and conflict resolution and fostering tolerance promote integration of personal and professional growth.
Other local community groups
There are a number of local ethnic groups that represent communities from around the world that are settled in the Bay of Quinte region. These groups organise cultural events and gatherings regularly.

Events
Waterfront and Ethnic Festival
Belleville’s Waterfront and Ethnic Festival is a four-day event held at Zwick’s Park every July. Tens of thousands of locals and tourists attend to sample foods from around the world including Barbados, Italy, Poland, Mexico, Romania, Portugal, Greece, India and Tibet.
The event also includes midway rides, live musical entertainment and demonstrations. Admission to the event is free.
Canada Day Celebrations
Celebrate Canada Day on July 1st throughout the Bay of Quinte region with fireworks, live music and other entertainment. You can expect to see lots of Canadian flags, giant Canadian flag cakes and everything will be painted red and white to celebrate the nation’s birthday. Belleville’s Zwick’s Park, Centennial Park in Trenton and Downtown Picton are all great locations to show your Canadian spirit on this national holiday.
Quinte Greek “Opa” Festival
The summer starts on a delicious note in the Bay of Quinte region with the annual Quinte Greek “Opa” Festival in early June. Visitors will experience the sights, sounds - and especially the tastes - of Greece. Traditional foods like chicken and pork souvlaki, moussaka, pastitsio and desserts like baklava and loukoumades are treats that are not to be missed.
