Connecting with Others

It’s easy to be intimidated by your surroundings when you come to a new place but the Bay of Quinte region is full of friendly and accepting people. The best way to get to know your community is to get out and participate in it.

There are many events held throughout the year in all parts of our region. These events are a great way to get to know other people in your community and get to know the region.

There are cultural groups that will help you connect with other newcomers to the community including the Ambassador’s Cafe (http://www.meetup.com/Ambassadorscafe/members/?offset=0&sort=last_visited&desc=1) a multicultural group in Quinte that plans monthly social events.

The United Nations Association in Canada Quinte Branch is a volunteer organization that works to promote and further the work of the United Nations in our community. If you are interested in getting involved in UNAC Quinte, please visit http://www.unacquinte.com/.

Another great way to connect with others and learn about our community is to volunteer to help with organizations that rely on community support. You can find out more about organizations and their volunteer needs at Volunteer & Information Quinte (http://viq.ca/website/).

Quinte Immigration (QUIS) hosts regular events for newcomers to the community including information sessions, and family holiday parties. They produce a quarterly newsletter that has information about these events and other noteworthy information for newcomers to the region. (http://www.quinteimmigration.ca/events/)
